A swing-arm reading light with a metal shade that plugs straight in, so light goes exactly where it is wanted, with no electrician required.
We chose this sconce because good reading light should not depend on rewiring. The adjustable arm swings and angles the metal shade over a pillow, an armchair or a desk, and the plug-in design means it can be fitted in rentals and spaces where hardwiring is impractical. Offered in soft beige or green with warm light, it brings a relaxed, contemporary note to bedrooms, living rooms and home offices, and its compact size suits small spaces.
The metal shade focuses light downward into a defined pool, which makes it an excellent task and reading light; angle the arm so the shade sits slightly above and to the side of the page to avoid glare. Use a warm white LED bulb to match the warm light specification. Select the AU plug option for Australian power points. Because it plugs in, keep the cord tidy and clear of walkways.

Hardwired fixtures must be installed by a licensed electrician. Dust with a soft, dry cloth; avoid chemical cleaners on metal finishes and fabric shades.

Gentle, contemporary colours with warm light bring a relaxed note to bedrooms, living rooms and home offices.
Metal, glass and fabric chosen for how they age and how they catch the light — never flimsy, never plasticky.
Thoughtful designs spread light gently and evenly instead of throwing glare — kinder to eyes, faces and surroundings.
Warm colour temperatures bring out the true tones of skin, timber, stone and greenery — the difference you notice every evening.
Whatever you are lighting — a dining table, a hallway, a front entry or a garden path — a few simple proportions make the difference between a light that feels considered and one that feels lost. Use these as a starting point, and always check the dimensions in the product details.
| Light | Size & position | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Pendants over a table or island | About ½–⅔ the table width; 75–85 cm above the surface | Over an island, allow roughly 60–75 cm between pendants |
| Chandeliers & ceiling lights | At least 210 cm clear above walkways | Over a dining table, choose around 30 cm narrower than the table |
| Interior wall sconces | Centre roughly 150–170 cm from the floor | Space 2–3 m apart along a hallway or wall |
| Bathroom & vanity lights | Either side of the mirror at eye level, or 190–200 cm above the floor | Choose IP44 or higher near water |
| Outdoor wall & entry lights | Fixture about ¼–⅓ the height of the door | Mount just above eye level; IP44+ for exposed walls |
| Path, garden & post lights | Space roughly 1.8–2.5 m apart | Stagger either side of a path for a softer, natural look |
| Floor & table lamps | Bottom of the shade near eye level when seated | Place slightly behind the shoulder for reading |
