A gracefully arched iron arm carrying a soft linen shade: industrial structure, softened for reading and writing.
We chose this lamp for the way it balances strength and softness. A sturdy white iron frame curves into an elegant arch, while the linen shade softens the light into a warm, comfortable glow. The light can be positioned in multiple directions, focusing illumination onto reading, writing or crafting, and an inline switch keeps control at hand. At 55.1 cm tall with a 20.1 cm shade, it suits home offices, bedrooms and studies in modern, rustic or industrial interiors.
Fit a warm-white E27 LED (2700K–3000K) for reading and evening use; the linen shade diffuses it gently, avoiding the harshness of a bare metal shade. The arched arm places the shade over the work surface, so the light falls on the page rather than across the eyes. It is listed with a US plug and a 110–240V input, so a suitable Australian travel adaptor will be needed.

Metal, glass and fabric chosen for how they age and how they catch the light — never flimsy, never plasticky.
Thoughtful designs spread light gently and evenly instead of throwing glare — kinder to eyes, faces and surroundings.
Warm colour temperatures bring out the true tones of skin, timber, stone and greenery — the difference you notice every evening.
Whatever you are lighting — a dining table, a hallway, a front entry or a garden path — a few simple proportions make the difference between a light that feels considered and one that feels lost. Use these as a starting point, and always check the dimensions in the product details.
| Light | Size & position | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Pendants over a table or island | About ½–⅔ the table width; 75–85 cm above the surface | Over an island, allow roughly 60–75 cm between pendants |
| Chandeliers & ceiling lights | At least 210 cm clear above walkways | Over a dining table, choose around 30 cm narrower than the table |
| Interior wall sconces | Centre roughly 150–170 cm from the floor | Space 2–3 m apart along a hallway or wall |
| Bathroom & vanity lights | Either side of the mirror at eye level, or 190–200 cm above the floor | Choose IP44 or higher near water |
| Outdoor wall & entry lights | Fixture about ¼–⅓ the height of the door | Mount just above eye level; IP44+ for exposed walls |
| Path, garden & post lights | Space roughly 1.8–2.5 m apart | Stagger either side of a path for a softer, natural look |
| Floor & table lamps | Bottom of the shade near eye level when seated | Place slightly behind the shoulder for reading |
